To celebrate the weekend, a couple friends and I headed off for a quick weekend get-away in Palm Springs. All in all the trip was fun, but not every adventure goes smoothly. Here are my tips for this trip.
We stayed at the Ace hotel. If you are going I would recommend it. It is a total hipster hotel, but has well designed comfortable rooms to fit a group. I recommend a room with a patio. The restaurant adjacent to the lobby has incredible food (try the grilled cheese), but definitely take one morning to go across the street to get cinnamon rolls from Koffi. They were out when we went, but offered to bake some fresh for us. Overall great place to stay, you really don't even need to leave the hotel.
The scenery is here is absolutely gorgeous. Not a huge fan of deserts, but sitting in a pool with this view is pretty rad. Our trip was the end of August and the heat was unruly, so my main tip is to go to Costco beforehand and stock up on water. Oh and if you are white as hell, like me, bring lots of sunscreen and reapply, reapply, reapply!
Since this place is a swim club as well as a hotel, the pool is the place to be during the day. All weekend we had a DJ at the pool, which made for a fun pool party. I highly recommend trying their piña coladas, maybe with a rum float if you are feeling crazy (only like $2 more). Oh and bring your own cool floaties, because they may have some at the hotel or in a pop-up shop during pool party days, but they are pricey. Or commandeer a unicorn floaty from someone else like I did!
Happy Travels,
Colleen
